I was born in the Northwest, and have never ventured far
from my favorite corner of the planet. I did escape from Seattle a few years
ago, landing in Oregon, outside of the Portland metropolis, and around the
corner from a protected wetlands area.
Throughout my life I have spent as much time as possible outdoors, hiking,
listening, watching and absorbing the incredible world we share. My heritage
is English and Swedish, but I grew up with stories of the Northwest Indians,
and feel an affinity to their beliefs and respectful way of life. Many of
Chief Sealth's words have been inspirational for me.
I have been taking pictures since I was a very short
person. I learned about the Polaroid SX-70 process in the late 1990s. My SX-70
photos are all about shapes and colors and feelings. To me they are restful
and interesting; a unique combination of art forms. I never know what will
happen when I start working with a photo, and that is part of the adventure.
I hope that the images are as much fun for others
as they have been for me.
